Streedagh Horses

Streedagh, Horses

This beach is on the North West Atlantic coast. The weather here is changeable! On this day there were short periods of sunshine between spells of heavy rain. Strong winds and rough seas were constant. In 1588, three ships from the Spanish Armada tried to shelter from a storm here. But the storm was too violent and the ships were wrecked on the rocks. The wind shapes the sand dunes along the shore. When the marram grass blows in the wind, the dunes resemble great waves at sea.
